
 
"Basics of Supply Chain Management" - APICS Midlands Chapter CPIM Preparatory Class
 
The "Basics of Supply Chain Management" course covers concepts required
to manage supply chain material flow from internal and external
suppliers to customers. The module not only introduces concepts and
terminology but also covers relationships among activities. Main topics
introduced are: Elements of the Supply Chain, Just-in-Time (JIT), Total
Quality Management (TQM), Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II),
Demand Planning and Capacity Management. Business-wide concepts include
satisfying customer expectations, demand management and planning,
transformation of supply into customer demand and supply management.
 
This is an excellent introductory course for the student who wants an
overview of the concepts of the APICS (American Production and Inventory
Control Society) CPIM (Certification in Production and Inventory
Management) body of knowledge. "Basics of Supply Chain Management" is
the first in a series of five CPIM modules. The CPIM program is
designed for the professional working in the field of materials or
operations management, who wants to continue to evolve, and incorporate
new and relevant information into his/her body of knowledge.
